The Arcade, Tynemouth
This intimate little plein air painting captures the cozy alley named ‘The Arcade’ in Tynemouth, painted from my shelter beneath an archway, the glow of warm shopfronts reflecting and stretching toward me became a great contrast to the cool sky and dreary damp bricks.
Even under my shelter, some tiny raindrops found their way onto the panel, leaving behind ghosts that subtly enhance the painting’s mood. The result is a piece that not only depicts the scene but carries honest traces of the weather itself.
It’s touches like this that showcase the unpredictable beauty of plein air painting in the elements.
