Jesmond Dene, Newcastle
This small plein air painting of Jesmond Dene on a winter’s day shows a figure with dog winding their way out of the dene’s steep paths, hard work for any walker.
The Dene is quiet and the flora dormant until spring, so I’ve used a warm underpainting to add life and remember the promise of spring creeping back to Jesmond, I think it’s a great portrait of Winter in Britain.
